S/L Graham Hulse
I have been searching my library looking for a book from the Korean War with the pictures of S/Ldr Graham Hulse's F-86 being shot down. I remember them as three pictures, one of Hulse hitting a MiG, the second of Hulse flying out in front of the MiG, and the third of Hulse's (left?) wing being shot off by the MiG. Can any one tell me a source for these pictures?

Re: S/L Graham Hulse
Hi Frank, the sequence is shown in "MIG Alley" by Larry Davis (1984) Squadron-Signal. I also think I have a JPEG of the sequence I can send you. Carlos

Many thanks Carlos. I have sent you a private message with my email.

Re: S/L Graham Hulse
I am looking at the sequence of photos on page 28 (actually six frames) that Carlos pointed out. The caption does not name the Sabre pilot, the unit or give a date for the action. Frank, how did you determine that this involved Hulse?

Re: S/L Graham Hulse
Tom, This is a famous sequence that is well known. It has been described in various accounts and the gun camera sequence was filmed by by Hulse's wingman, who shot down the MIG-15.

Re: S/L Graham Hulse
Thanks, Carlos. It's curious that it wasn't identified in the caption of Davis' book.

Re: S/L Graham Hulse
I think that at the time (1984) the true identity of the sequence had been lost in time. There was a good article on Graham Hulse in the Saber Jet website, don't know if it's active. This sequence is even mentioned in a novel called "Fighter Pilot" by "Kelly Robbins", a pseudonym for the author's real name. This is an interesting novel by a pilot who flew P-51s in the 8th AF, F-86s in Korea and F-105s in Vietnam. Haven't been able to identify his true identity. Finally, there some discussion on Hulse in this Forum some time back. It was postulated that he was shot down by the PLAAF and not the Soviet AF. He is also mentioned in "Other Eagles" by C. Shores

Re: S/L Graham Hulse
A thread on Hulse from 10 years go. It is surmised that he was shot down by the PLAAF (Red China).
