Me 109 Tank
Simple question, Friends
How did Me 109 petrol tanks look like ? Did they consist of rubber like B 24 or B 17 . With several rubber layers? Fou Found no info on google I found a rubber patch with 3 or 4 layers. Any picture ? Many thanks for your replies. dnalor |
Re: Me 109 Tank
Hi From a PRO doc listing manufacturers of all Bf 109 parts :-
Oil and petrol tanks manufactured by Neue Kuhler u. Flugzeugteile Fab, Colditzstrasse 27-29 Berlin-Tempelhof Perhaps you could investigate their manufacturing processes Tony |
Re: Me 109 Tank
Early were made of aluminum, and looked almost identical to the post-war Spanish Ha1112 Fuel Tanks.
Otherwise, they were rubber on inside and out...with a self-sealing foam in between. Around 0.5" in thickness. Mike |
Re: Me 109 Tank
Tony and Harrison,
many thx for your replies. 0,5 " (inch ? ) thickniss would suit well. The decisive is, if a part of a Me-109 tank, it would be the first hint to a long missed Me 109 wreckage. No metal parts in the closer souroundings yet. ATB dnalor |
