French location help

I have six more locations which are posing some issues; these should be the last for which I have to bother folks for assistance. All are in the Cherbourg to Normandy area according to various Ninth Air Force fighter group mission reports and while I could simply use them as spelled in those documents, I'd rather be able to use proper spellings. Thank you once more!

Courperville, Anneville, St. Iauber, de Molay, Lauber and St. Morroey.

Re: French location help

There are three Annevilles in the area, only context will help decide

Anneville sur Mer, on west coast near Coutances
Anneville en Saire, near Barfleur
Anneville, E of Valognes

There is also an Annoville.

Take your pick

There is a Courpeville, SW of Saint-Sauveur-de-Pierrepont

There is a Le Molay, W of Bayeaux

St Iauber and Lauber are possibly the same place but the only one I can find that is even close is Ectot-l'Auber, N of Rouen, which is out of area

Another possibility, but a bit left field

Laulne, which is NE of Lessay

Looking a shape of letters written down

Re: French location help

Hello,

On the basis of an “American” pronunciation of the name’s place? St. Morroey could be Saint-Maurice (en-Cotentin), East of Barneville-Carteret. A hypothesis also, for Iaubert or St. Lauber, there is a Saint-Auber-sur-Orne. By crossing perhaps with other coordinates or places given in the report during the same mission, it is possible perhaps, to refine? BTW, correct spelling for Bayeaux is Bayeux.

Best regards,
Frederic
