Information concerning the loss of Obergefreiter Hermann Gerl - killed 02.06.1943 over Sardinia

Hi,

Can anyone provide information on the loss of Obergefreiter Herman Gerl who looks like he was a flier and was killed over Sarninia on the 2nd June 1943.

He had fought over several theatres including Belgian, France and North Africa and then the Mediterranean.

You'll have noticed on the Volksbund website that place of death is specifically reported as Pula, Cagliari, Sardinien.

I gathered that the Germans had a radar post at Pula, frequently attacked during 1943?

(This Pula not be be confused with Pula, Istria, present day Croatia.)

Nearby Capoterra airfield apparently was not used by the Luftwaffe.
