Oberleutnant Karl-Hartmann Lion's Bordfunker 'Pohl' in 1940
Happy New Year to all
Apologies for the error in the thread title - I think spell-check got me. Does anyone happen to know the rank and full name of Bordfunker 'Pohl', who flew with Karl-Hermann Lion during the Battle of France and Battle of Britain in 1940? In France the unit was still designated I.(St)/186(T) but this would change to III./StG 1 in the summer of 1940. Any help much appreciated |
Re: Oberleutnant Karl-Hartmann Lion's Bordfunker 'Pohl' in 1940
In III/St.G 1 was:
1941-04-14, 7./St.G 1, Ju 87 R-2, 5874, J9+CH, Bei Tobruk Flugzeugführer Lt Martinz, Hans, gefangen Bordfunker Uffz Pohl, Helmut, gefangen Notlandung jenseits. Bruch 100 %. Maybe your Pohl? Matti |
Re: Oberleutnant Karl-Hartmann Lion's Bordfunker 'Pohl' in 1940
Lion was Ia of III./StG 1 and Lt Hans Martinz the Adj. 6 Jan 41 Lion was reported in hospital so it is probable that Pohl was flying with Martinz on 14 Apr 41. Lion took command of 9./StG 1 after the death of Oblt Ulrich Heinze on 9 May 41. I./186 became III./StG 1 around 2 Jul 40

MAW Vol 1 page 158 says this belonged to Stab III./St.G. 1 They also have three further Stukas lost or damaged, without giving any WNr. Are they unknown? 1) T6+JM shot down, crew POW 2) nothing except gunner Lt Erich Hummel baled out and became POW 3) nothing except crash landed and Uffz Heinrich Kroll WIA Do you by any chance have any further details such as WNr? Cheers Stig |

Matti's database must be for TOCH members what Görings wine cellar was for Lewis Nixon (1918 – 1995). Isn't it? :p

Re: Martinz and Pohl: Enter: https://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/Sear...archItems.aspx Enter individual names for each person in 'Keywords' box. You should get: Hans Martinz - two (2) hits, both digitised. Helmut Pohl - three (3) hits, 2 digitised. Use same method for other mentioned POWs in this thread. Col. |
