Dear reader,

When studying the Flugbuch of this flyer, I decided to write a story about him. The story will be published on the website of a local museum. Does anyone have any information on this Bordfunker?

I know he flew with Erhard Bruhnke. Did this pilot transfer to single-engined fighter aircraft and was he killed in Jagdgeschwader 1?

The Bundesarchiv is new to me. I have never been there before. Is there any chance I would find info there? Is is possible to order information online?

Hello Timon,

Fw Erhard Bruhnke of 4./JG 1 was killed in action on 31 Aug 1943 at 03:25 hrs near Koblenz flying the Fw 190 A-5 WNr. 7212 black 2.
This was a night operation against an attack of the RAF Bomber Command on Mönchengladbach.

If you are after Personalunterlagen they only have the officers in Freiburg.

Hello,

I only know one Uffz. Hans Ortmann, which flew as Bordfunker of Oblt. Werner Rapp in 5./N.J.G. 5. Maybe you mean this man.

There is an Gefreiter Ortmann attending Nachtjagdlehrgang 7 1943, perhaps teamed up witn Flugzeugführer Uffz. Möllerfriedrich.

I doubt it is this Gefreiter, because Hans Ortmann already was an Unteroffizier before 1943. Also, he did his night flying training during 1941 before he was posted to 7./NJG 1.
