Hi,

Can anyone provide information on the loss of Fahnrich Orlando Chittaro who was a pilot in a night reconnaissance staffel and was killed on a mission on the night of 24th March 1945?

Thanks

Rick

There are some Polish websites depicting his grave. Stone says he crashed at Karlsberg/Karlowa and this link (in Polish, Google translate will help) gives he flew a Me-109 when lost: http://plecakzmapa.blogspot.com/2019...o-orlando.html

Just scroll down to about midways of blog when you see his picture.

There are details of the crash: 2./Nahaufklärungsgruppe 2, Bf-109G, Wnr. 19996, check flight after repairs, control stick had broken.
Due to his young age (19) he did not fly combat missions.
See http://www.grafschaft-glatz.de/literat/althwb18.pdf on p. 139
