Looking for damage report on a Ju 88
 

Hi everyone,


I am looking for a damage report on a Ju88 "WNr. 406" (engine failure, crash landing ?) I.(?) KG 77 July 1941. Any info that might further identify the date, aircraft and unit it belonged to would much appreciated.

WNr. 406 was with a recon unit in 1941. It was damaged a couple of times, but not as a total loss.

So would this aircraft be from 5(F) 122 F6+_x ?...I saw a report returning the aircraft to service on 18 July 1941. Any idea what date it was damaged on ?

But it is strange, the dates don't match. The report I have says:

"A ferrying pilot reported on 18/7 (1941) to Technical Officer of 2 Ob.d.L. (at Duenaburg) that after its trial flights had been completed, Ju 88 Wks. No. 406 damaged its undercarriage, as a result of motor failure, at Duenaburg areodrome."

This is an intercept translated by the English.

If the report you have simply says 406 the aircraft involved is not necessarily 0880406 as listed by Jim

You have a lot of aircraft to chose from, all ending on 406

Just a thought

I wonder myself about that. Do you think there a threshold where damage is not reported ? 10% 15 % ?

I have photographic evidence of fighter damage to a Ju 88 which included damage to the undercarriage which was not reported. Obviously too easy to rectify
