8/9 March 1945, IV./NJG.1
On 8/9 March 1945, IV./NJG.1 lost 3 Me110G-4s.
110081 crashed at Möhnetal-Sperre due to icing up; Adamski, Schulz and Becker were killed 160127 crashed at Michelbach when out of fuel; Hptm Greiner and crew survived. 740860 crashed at Waldbröl. Fhr M. Friedeman died but the pilot and another crewman survived. Would it be possible to find the other two names of the crew of 740860. I have already consulted Michael Balss book without success. It would also be a big help if anyone could tell me more about the cause of the crash. Dennis |
Re: 8/9 March 1945, IV./NJG.1
Hi Dennis,
the cause of the crash of 740860 was fuel starvation. Hope this helps, Norbert |

Re: 8/9 March 1945, IV./NJG.1
Hello Norbert,
Thank you for yoy reply. What is is the source of you information? Hello Remi Why do you think that the werknummer was 140060? regards, dennis |
Re: 8/9 March 1945, IV./NJG.1
Because it's what we find in the gen.verl.meld.
Where hv you found the 110081 ??? I hv a good collection of NVM for the NJ units if interested ??? rémi |
Re: 8/9 March 1945, IV./NJG.1
Hello Rémi,
I got the loss information from "Deutsche Nagdjagd"by Michael Balls. It lists 160127, 110081 and 740860 (G9+AE) as lost on the night in question. I don not know exactly what the NVM are. I would be interested to see those for this date. I went through the RAF radio intercepts of Luftwaffe nightfighters, but RAF jamming was so efficient this night that few conversations could be recorded. regards, Dennis |
Re: 8/9 March 1945, IV./NJG.1
One made a mistake, I think Balss because the serie for 740xxx, hv to end something around 740200, for 140xxx known is also 140766
NVM are individual losses opposed to gen.verl.meld. that gives losses day/per/day remi |
Re: 8/9 March 1945, IV./NJG.1
Are you sure rémi?
In the 740 xxx series Balss records losses such as 740301, 308, 345, 358, 388, 638, 647, 653, 680, 757 and 860. 740860 would be a high number you are right at that, but it doesn't looks impossible to me. Do the NVM say anything about werknummern? Dennis |
Re: 8/9 March 1945, IV./NJG.1
I don't found that numbers in Balss's book, which page ??? as his book is based on the NVM nd gen.verl.meld. it seems that I missed a lot ...
You will find in the NVM the Wn nd norm. an accurate location date nd fate of the crew but only if members hv been wounded/ or died.. remi |
