Hi,
please does anyone have information about the activities of "Jägerzuführungsstaffel"?
Did the pilots of these units transport aircraft to combat units?

I know that one Jägerzuführungsstaffel was in Köln-Ostheim.

1st July 1944 "Jägerzuführungskommando West" was established to control the supply of aircraft and personnel of Luftflotte 3 for the following 4 month. It included Jägerzuführungsstaffel 1 at Wiesbaden-Erbenheim, Staffel 2 at Mannheim-Sandhofen and Staffel 3 at Köln-Ostheim. Manpower was taken from 2./JG 4, 11./JG 11 and Ausbildungskommando 10./JG 11 (RL 2 III / 60).

The only hint to actual action I have is a single Ultra-report with Werknummern for around 30 Bf 109 and Fw 190 from Jägerzuführungskdo West (Ultra HW5/573).

Also take a look at Budesarchiv RL 2-III/201 page 37 (available online) which has three of these Staffeln being established on 1 July 1944, along with Jägerzuführungskommando West.

I haven't looked at much of this file yet but it might also tell you when these units were disbanded.

It seems to have been an effort to rebuild Gruppe West/Flugzeugüberführungsgeschwader 1 by replacing its inexperienced rookie pilots, who were losing and damaging too many fighters in landing crashes on rough French satellite airfields from 6 to 30 June 1944, with experienced pilots from the active front fighter units, in particular JG 1, JG 4 and JG 11. The P/W interrogation cited below has some information on it.*

20 Sep 44: Gruppe West ordered disbanded this date with 2. and 3. Staffel to be reassigned to Gruppe Süd. (see DEFE 3 ULTRA signal HP5997)

In the Bundesarchiv file RL 7-3/572 (which is available online) a Luftflotte 3 disposition report for 11 July 1944 gives the following:

Jägerzuführungskdo. West (in Aufstellung)
Jägerzuführungsstaffel 1, Wiesbaden-Erbenheim
Jägerzuführungsstaffel 2, Mannheim-Sandhofen
Jägerzuführungsstaffel 3, Köln-Ostheim
