Re: B-17F, 42-3325 - 30 Jan 1944
It appears that 42-3325 was hit by falling bomb(s) from higher flying B-17 and crash landed near GE-BE border, at Nideggen/Hürtgenwald.
According post on 379th Air Expeditionary Wing Facebook site, crew was unhurt until strafed by German fighter to prevent them from setting B-17 on fire. In this, two seriously and six slightly injured, all 10 POW. Also see https://sites.google.com/site/379thbgnoseart/home and look for 42-3325. Regards, Leendert |
