i./JG 52 Flugplatz in jun of 1944
Hallo
In jun of 1944 I./JG 52 twice operated from place, which in Lexicon der Wehrmacht is defined as Polonczna and in ww2.dk as Pelonilzna. Allegedly 40 km NE of Lviv. I'm looking for a location of that place and perhaps correct name. All the best |
Re: i./JG 52 Flugplatz in jun of 1944
It's Pelonizna, according to the old Niko Fast history of JG 52.

Larry,
I think it's Poloniczna. Best, Ed |
Re: i./JG 52 Flugplatz in jun of 1944
Yes, Ed, that's the old Polish name for it. The current Ukrainian name is Polonychna. It's no surprise that even the German unit history of JG 52 by Niko Fast couldn't get it right.

If it's the German spelling, it's not really wrong?

Re: i./JG 52 Flugplatz in jun of 1944
It depends on which maps you are using, Polish or German. And don't mix in any English names.
Poland is Polska in Polish but Polen in German. Gdańsk in Polish becomes Danzig in German. So it's very important to check both Polish and German maps and do place name comparisons. |

Thanks for answers. I got it. It's Połoniczna, old polish village i Kamionka Strumiłowa Caunty, contemporaryly in Ukraine.
All the best. |
