Hello,
what unit is this Ju 88 from? Maybe KG 26? Is it really a A-6U? Quote:

IMHO, this photo is of a torpedo version of the Ju 88 A-4 (has gondola, and what appears to be the torpedo steering mechanism can be seen just past the mechanic's right elbow). My research indicates most photo identifications of Ju 88s as A-6/U are probably incorrect. Being a torpedo carrier, KG 26 would be a good unit suggestion for this aircraft , although there was an advanced training unit at Catania, which had aircraft with the same basic configuration and similar camouflage. If photos show a 4-alpha Stammkennzeichen, then the training unit is most likely. Finally the numerals on the nose are most likely the last three digits of a six digit W.Nr. possibly in the 144xxx or 301xxx series.
