We are saddened to hear of the passing of 99-year-old RAF Veteran Harold Kirby.
Londoner Harold worked in accounts before enlisting with the Royal Air Force in 1942. He initially became a fitter with 460 Squadron at RAF Binbrook before being reassigned as a flight engineer. He then served two tours of operations with 467, 97 and 156 Squadrons. Harold was later posted to Pathfinders 97 Squadron, stationed at RAF Coningsby.
Harold is pictured with members of Billl Ryan’s 1661 Heavy Conversion unit crew in 1944. Our thoughts and prayers are with Harold's family.
Thank you for your service, Sir, rest in peace
