Meaning of term B.A.Z. in flugbuch

Hi All,
wondering if anybody has a explanation what the term B.A.Z. means. It is part of an entry in a Flugbuch under Zweck des Fluges (Flight type).

Thanks for the help,

Norbert

Hi:

Suggestion: ´Bomben auf Ziel ´ (just a thought, not really shure) if a bomber / fighter-bomber type.

cheers

Hi Ed,
well it was a Me 410 but the pilot did mostly acceptance flights. So the bomb idea my be a little far fetched, but thanks anyway. I know this is a very dark fishing expedition to find the meaning of this.

If it was an acceptance flight, B A could be "bei Abnahme", however no guess for the Z.

Hi Norbert;

If Me 410 flight-testing did NOT involve testing of bombing gear - I am mistaken - but after all it was an Intruder / Fast Bomber as employed by KG 51 over Britain. Trying to imagine how this crew-man wrote down his flight, I recommend to analyse if this involved longer or shorter flight than usual etc. or terminated at another location:

Another suggestion: ´Bau-Abnahme Zelle´ (Acceptance of Airframe <Only> ~ Not weapons or engines).

´Zelle´ is mentioned in late war documents, regarding deliveries and acceptance of another type of aircraft.

cheers

Hey Norbert

Is it possible, that you read wrong the letter "Z" an that the term was right "BAL" ? This letter "L" looks in Sütterlin like the letter "Z".
In this case it was the abbreviation von "Bauaufsicht Luft", a department of the RLM.

Hi All,
thanks for your help. Unfortunately this Flugbuch is not in Suterlin. So it is indeed B.Z.A. I think Ed has an interesting idea. Hopefully at one point somone has the solution.

Thanks again,

Norbert
