Another research for Tours area (France) : a recon mission 11 July 1944 :
Please, a recon plane took pictures of a rail road bridge settled just West of Tours : Pont de la Motte (between Saint Cyr / North bank and La Riche / South side of river Loire). A friend of mine has got a photo rail photo with these information written in the bottom : (US 15/1212) 11 July 44 (F/7) (250) 10 PR (1030B) RR Br-Tours (ILL4700/27/A) Please can you help me to undertand these indications ? Is « 10 PR » for 10th Photographic Reconnaissance Group ? Thank you. Phil. |

Canonne, I have just finished reading the wonderful book of Tom G. Ivie about the 10th PRG History.
I do quote, from Lt. Trenner's Diary (pg.44). Two pilots went up that day (15h TAC R). which were Lieutenant Fred Trenner and Lt. John Miefert. The book quotes Fred Trenner's memories: "Finally got the job done on those bridge photos. Bud really got some beautiful pictures and its been an exciting day...went down to Tours and it was a piece of cake as was the third one." Please forward me your e-mail so I can scan you the relevant full page report, all right? Adriano |

Confirm 10PR is 10PRG and that F/7 means a 7" lens (focal). The book mentions F/6", F/12", F/24" generally....
