Radio beacon or "Funkfeuer", middle France

Hello to all,

I am looking for the exact location of a radio beacon located between Bourges and Avord, middle of France. On a German navigation map (The I./NJG2 history book’s by Heinz Rökker) I saw that there was here a radio beacon named "FunkFeuer Saturn".
I discovered into the fields at 12 miles SSE of Bourges the remainder of a concrete support for a Würburg-Riese radar like two other concrete bases. One of them could be for the power station and the other one for the radio beacon??? All these remainders are located into a 0,5 miles radius.

That can be this radio beacon?
A last question; which are the basic structures and equipment for German radio beacon?
All the answers are the welcomes.

Best regards,
Frederic.

Hi,
I have SATURN at 5230N00715E.
The W-R foundation have no relation to a FF, but all Stellungen had a LFF. The site you have found must be BRILLENSCHLANGE please see:
http://www.gyges.dk/luftwaffe_radar_stations%20in%20France.htm
A FF consisted of two masts with a wire antenna suspended in between and a small hut underneath to house the equipment.

Hello SES,

Thank you for this explanation and the link.
The map into the book is the reproduction of an original "navigationskarte" and your co-ordinates locate the radio beacon “Saturn” in Germany! Two beacons with the same name?
I would like to understand for what is used this station "Brillenschlange" in aerial navigation because I am not a specialist of this equipment! Location is : 465403N-023146E
Witout speaking of the base for the “Würburg” and the supposed electric station, to my opinion, one of the bases in concrete is used as support to a metallic mast. At the edge of a square base in concrete, to one of the angles, there are four square holes which could have been used to fix a mast. Note that there where two important airfields in the vicinity, used by bombers units and a flying school FFS(B)15.

Best regards,
Frederic

Hi Frederic,
Yes it does look odd with the two positions.
BRILLENSCHLANGE was a Himmelbett Stellung involved in night fighter control.
Please see:
http://www.gyges.dk/Himmelbett.htm
Could you possibly post pictures of the W-R sockles.
