Can anyone please tell me the exact date in June 1941 when 13./JG77 was formed?
Thanks Danny |
Re: formation date of 13./JG77
Bundesarchiv RL 10/305 is the JG 77 war diary for 16 May–16 july 1941. It's digitised so you can view it online or download it.

Mombeek say about 13./JG 77 for first time 1.6.41. In ULTRA-interseption 13./JG 77 first revelled 8.8.41m when Bf.109 from that staffel crushed near Stavanger, but in GQ loss list first Bf.109T from 13./JG 77 was 1.7.41. In Gliederung LF 5 on 25.8.41 13./JG 77 listed in Sola with 9 Bf.109T |
Re: formation date of 13./JG77
The formation of 13./J.G.77 was first mentioned in Einsatzbereitschaftsmeldung in BA/MA RL 2 III/713 dated 07.06.1941. It was made possible because of the arrival of many Bf 109T aircraft to J.G.77 at this time. In October 1941 the 13./J.G.77 in Southern Norway was redesignated 1./J.G.77 and 1./J.G.77 in the north was redesignated 13./J.G.77. (This looks more and more like an episode of "Soap" if you remember. Why make it easy if you can do it complicated)

Re: formation date of 13./JG77
Many of 1./JG 77 pilots disappeared from Finland front at autumn. Including Carganico, Dahmer, Muller, Salwender etc. Losses and victories made by another people - Senoner, Ehrler. So it looks like there was no redesignation but exchange of staffeln
