Bf109 loss night of 11/12th October 1940
 

Hi,

A 38 Squadron crew had an encounter with a Bf109 on this night, and reported it shot down into the sea?

Was there any activity this night and were any Bf109s losts or damaged in combat with RAF Bomber Command.

It would help if you mention where the encounter took place. Norway or southern France ?

...and in any case, Bf 109s were no longer being used for night-fighting which was now being better performed by Bf 110s, Ju 88s and Do 17s

Just an idea: SGLO database has a Do-17 crash of Stab/KG 2 on 12 Dec 1940 at Sijbekarspel, which is some 25 km inland west of Enkhuizen on the former Zuiderzee (now IJsselmeer). Wnr. 1139.
Don't know cause of crash, unfortunately.
