Sergeant Stow, 115 Sqn, 1940
Dear all,
I have asked this question elsewhere, but I have drawn a blank so far. I am attempting to identify the above individual from the 115 Sqn ORB. He appears throughout the first half of 1940, variously as an AC, LAC and subsequently as a Sgt, and in various Wellington crews. Unfortunately, his initials and service number are never mentioned. He shouldn't be confused with an individual named Stowe (who was later awarded the DFM). Is there anyone out there who can assist, please? Many thanks Jonny |

Should be able to find it in AIR78 at the NA?

Re: Sergeant Stow, 115 Sqn, 1940
Without any initials you will have quite a job.
Here are some that start with an "A" initial. A - 1668700 A - 230956 A A - 5013793 A C - 2312836 A H - 226244 A J - 1832400 A J - 2526275 A L - 1897534 A P - 1801893 A W - 1831710 A W - 652072 Good luck Alex |
Re: Sergeant Stow, 115 Sqn, 1940
Having looked at the 115 Sqdn A27/894 appendix .
On page 4 there is a Sgt.Stowe. But also on the same page there is also an AC. Stowe. So maybe your Stow is a typist error ? https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...ils/r/C2503533 |
Re: Sergeant Stow, 115 Sqn, 1940
Gentleman,
Thank you. Having plodded through the 115 Sqn ORB many times in the past, it is of no help, because it doesn't give initials for NCO aircrew in the first half of 1940. 'Stow' and 'Stowe' were separate individuals operating in separate crews, at roughly the same time. There was no typo at work. I'm trying, and failing, to nail down the former. The idea of flogging through the Air 78 lists to identify first initials of all the Stow's, will not, I think, help me in my quest. Cheers Jonny |
