III./KG 26 loss

Good afternoon,

On 13th of August 1943 III./KG 26 along with Stab and I./KG 26 attacked convoy KMS21 near the Island of Alboran. The book “Die Spur des Löwen” says the Gruppe lost 7 Ju 88A-4/LT, “Achtung - Torpedo Los” returns only 5 losses. The crew of Fw. Kurt Flender has been already conformid in a thread here. Leaves only the crew of Fw. Walter Röder, but Kracker website suggestie the name could be Walter ROTHE. The a/c code 1H+FR suggestie a 7. Staffel machine. So I hope someone has more information about this pilot and Staffel he belonged to.d
Tia and kind regards,

Dirk

Re: III./KG 26 loss

III / KG 26 has 7 seven losses confirmed, 1H+FR, 1H+HS, 1H+DS, 1H+BT, 1H+DT, 1H+CT, 1H+FT. I do not know why name differs and have nothing new on the Staffel.
I prefer write this Ju 88 A-4 LT (Luft Torpedo) with spaces as designation appears in factory manuals that were approved by RLM. -ed.

Re: III./KG 26 loss

I have no Walter Rothe in my database but have Fw Paul Rothe (DOB 11.07.1918) a navigator of a 1./KG 26 He 111 H-11LT, WNr. 8388, 1H+MH. This aircraft was shot down on 13.08.1943 in the Mediterranean Sea (mission "Geleitzug vor Gibraltar").
