Annapolis '39 classmates
An interesting fact is that class '39 Lt Robert Scott “Scottie” Whitman was flying a PBY-5A of VP- 44 when he was killed in action on 4 June 1942. He was attacked by Japanese Mitsubishi F1M2 Type 0 float planes from the seaplane carrier Chitose about 340 miles west of Midway and died when his Catalina crashed.
Lieutenant Commander George C. Duncan of VF-15 dropped a bomb on Chitose when it was sunk in October 1944. K |

Yep working through it to identify those that were aircrew in WW2. It's been a great story so far. So many of Duncan's contemporaries were involved in events (major and minor) that I have read of. Tragically a substantial number failed to survive the war.
