Confusion JG 26 - JG 27
 

Hi, all

Just wondered - crosschecking Summary losses against the GenQu 6 Abt lists and found the following:

7. u. 9. JG 26 has noted two aircraft lost in the summary loss listings for loss date 28.08.1943, there is only one entry in the list for this unit, namely entry number 27. Entry number 28 however, is noted as III./J.G.27, but in the summary losses for this date and unit there is no corresponding entry...

So, guys, is this Bf 109 G-6 WNr 15984 most likely a III./J.G.27 erronously noted as lost by J.G. 26 in the summary loss list, or a J.G.26 bird erronously noted as a J.G.27 bird in the GenQu 6 Abt list?

I think the first is correct as the aircraft was lost at Götzendorf/Leitha, and III./J.G.27 was located at Wien-Götzendorf at this time.
