LeO 451 ser. no 268
 
Hi everybody
I'm looking for info about french bomber LéO 451 ser. no. 268 from GB II/31, which took part in attacks on Wehrmacht ground forces in Abbeville/Amiens area on May31, 1940, and accord. to one french site was shot down by Luftwaffe fighters.

Indeed it was

GB II/31 (6 LeO 451) was tasked to bomb enemy assembly points between Amiens and Abbeville.
They lost three aircraft, No 29, 73 and 268, the latter shot down in flames. Luckily the crew bailed out

The ATB book "The Battle of France" has this plane shot down by a Bf 109 of III/JG 53 does not mention the pilot. The Prien JG 53 book claim list it could be either:
Ltn Claus
Obltn Wittenberg
Ltn Radick

Shot down by III/JG53....it's possible but no certain.
Several groups claimed LEO in the Abbeville/Amiens area around 8.00p.m

Among the possible candidates:

Armée de l'Air lost a total of nine LeO 451 that day not mentioning other attack/bomber aircraft.

A very bad day for freedom....
