Hello dear friends! I'm loocking for a any infomation about German glidingschools 1930-45. Does that schools were part of Luftwaffe or any other institution?Where can i finde some information(schemats) about SG 38 or Granau G9??

The best books on the subject I know of are the three books by Peter Reidel, Start in den Wind being the first one. Some of the German booksellers should still have them.

Gliderschools could be more or less independant, be integrated within NS-organisations (like NSFK (Nationalsozialisches Fliegerkorps)/ Flieger HJ (Flieger Hitlerjugend) etc.) and/ or be part of the Luftwaffe.

Fürstenwalde-based Ausbildungskommando für Lastensegelflug and its Darmstadt airfield. Very interesting SG 38 equipped gliding school was also in Graudenz (Pommern region) which is in Poland now. The German hangar remained over there up to this day. It was elementary joint flak and glider school. Flak crews trained to aim at the friendly gliders flying over them (without shooting of course).

Some Flugzeugführerschulen had her own Glidingschool, so FFS A/B 72 Markersdorf, FFS A/B 61 Oschatz or FFS A/B 1 Görlitz.

The core of military glider training on DFS 230 was done by Ergaenzungsgruppe (S) 1 headquartered in Rossitten (East Prussia) and from mid-1941 at Langendiebach airfield with satellite airfields at Zellhausen, Grossostheim, Wertheim. Literature in German only - I recommend the books of Georg Schlaug (Deutsche Lastensegler 1938-45) and my book on Zellhausen airfield, which covers the subject in great detail and with many pics: Schafsweide, ISBN 978-3-9807935-0-6
