509th MSG, Maintenance Squadron - WW2 lineage?

As far as I have been able to find out, this unit was a postwar unit
http://usafunithistory.com/PDF/0500/...NANCE%20GP.pdf

Would anyone be able to tell,
(1) if an assignment to this unit four years after discharge in Feb 1946 signify that he was assigned to a WW2 unit that later became the 509th MG?
(2) if it is possible to figure out his unit assignments from the fact that he trained in 906th TG, AAF BTC 4?

Thank you.

Kind regards

Mikkel

Re: 509th MSG, Maintenance Squadron - WW2 lineage?

I have come across new information:

He was sent to New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, and later to Miami Beach. From there he went to Amarillo, Texas, for five months of training as a flight mechanic, and then followed four months in training as flight engineer. Postings in Nebraska, Texas, Colorado Springs and Kansas followed, before he was shipped out from Seattle to Guam in the Mariana Islands.

He is known to have been serving overseas from 18 December 1944.

His exact unit assignment is not known, but according to the information available he served on the B-29 Superfortress in 1944-45 and participated in bombing missions on mainland Japan—including Tokyo—from Guam.

His experiences during a raid on Tokyo on 8/9 May 1945 is described by him information he shipped home.
