Bv 138 losses
 

In looking through Luftwaffe in Norway Luftwaffe.no they have

Bv 138 3/406 Wk Nr 310066 Missing from Tromso 1701.42 Luftwaffe-zur-see has nothing on this plane?

Bv 138 3/406 Wk Nr 310044 has it crashed due to bad weather 21.02 42. luftwaffe-zur-see has it crashing on 21 feb 42 which is right?

RL 2-III/1180 - Bd. 9 - 3.Febr - 2.Mai.42

They cover the dates that you are interested in.

In my books, 21.02.42 and 21 feb 42 is exactly the same day/date....

FYI, Articles by Theodor Mohr also lists 1380310044 BD+EF 3./406 as lost on 21 Feb 1942 in a snowstorm
at Baltsfjord

Mohr also lists 138310066 DM+DF 3./406 as lost 17 Jan 1942 at Tromsö (unknown reasons)

Hi James,

Actually, the entry for the loss of BV 138 W.Nr. 0044 can be found in two files of the Bundesarchiv:

RL 2-III/758 page 0021 and RL 2-III/1180 page 0396. In both cases there is a handwritten notation changing the date from 21.2 to 21.1 giving 4.3.42 as the date it was changed.
These changes can be found in RL 2-III/758 p. 0058 and RL 2-III/1180 p. 0352.

Curiously, while having to scroll down to page 0396, the photograph shows page 393.

Also check out the Bundesarchiv.de, RM6/142 KTB Gen.d.Lw.B.Ob.d.M. for February 1942, page 6. Here the date is given as 21. February 1942.
