Sad to read word that P-51 triple ‘Ace’ Clarence ‘Bud’ Anderson has passed away aged 102 😔
I was lucky to have some correspondence with Bud a few years ago - letters which I’ll treasure. Blue skies Bud & thankyou.

Very very few became Fighter Pilots (in WW2 and nowadays)
Very very very few became ACES (in WW2 and nowadays)
Very very very very few became Test Pilots (even nowadays)
Very very ver very very few passed the 100 years mark (even nowadays)
So I see here a FULL privileged life in all aspects...a Tribute to a most fantastic person and Airman.
We shall meet in Valhala and fly without airplanes, just soar freely.
RIP "Old Eagle"

WWII fighter pilot and aviation legend, C.E. Bud Anderson has flown west, at 102 years old. A Triple Ace who flew the P-51 Mustang "Old Crow," while assigned to the 357th Fighter Group “Yoxford Boys,” 8th Air Force, Leiston Field, United Kingdom. Bud was the leading Ace of the 363rd Fighter Squadron with 16 1/4 victories. His military career extended into Korea and Vietnam, and after retiring, he became the manager of the McDonnell Aircraft Company's Flight Test Facility at Edwards AFB. During his career, he flew over 100 types of aircraft and logged over 7,500 hours. Bud appeared at many air shows and gatherings, sharing his aviation experiences with young and old, even as recent as last summer. Clarence "Bud" Anderson, 8th AF P-51 triple ace

Hello

What very sad news ... I recall seeing Mr Anderson featuring prominently in various World War II aces and aerial combat programs on television and videos on YouTube and it is incredible to realize that he is gone. I had no idea he was of that age! He lived an amazing life and condolences to his friends and family.

Leo
