Interview with Horst Petzschler

Hi guys

I hope all of you are doing well. I recently noticed a two part interview with 26-victory ace Oberfeldwebel Horst Petzschler of JG 51 and JG 3 posted on YouTube. It's a bit lengthy at nearly two hours but well worth watching. I might also mention that the same channel has an interview with a gentleman who was the center of some controversy some time ago.

What did Horst Petzschler did after WWII? Is he still alive?

Hi Edward

Born on 1st September 1921 as far as I know he's still alive. Don't know what he did after the war, but POW until 22nd September 1949. Twenty-two confirmed claims four unconfirmed.

Jerry Crandall had him at 1 or 2 IPMS USA Nationals in the 1990s, I think. At the time Horst was living in the US. I think he may have been a vehicle mechanic. He had a younger wife and 1 or 2 children with him.

After the war Horst emigrated to Canada and then the U.S.A.

He was a tool fitter/engineer for Mcdonnell Douglas and Lockheed. He was married 3 times and had 4 children.

He lived in Wichita, Kansas and died May 16th 2011/
