December 5th 1944
Hi,
Looking to ID German units involved in opposing a Bomber Command attack on the Marshalling Yards at Hamm. A Avro Lancaster of No.195 Squadron was badly mauled by a reported Bf109G but was claimed destroyed by the gunners. The Lancaster was obliged to force land in Belgium. Any pointers welcome. Thank you. Steve |

They were from JG 27 and IV/JG 54, but there was so much mess in the air, also involving 2 TAF apart of escorts, I was unable to make any sense out of it. Escort fend off some Fw 190s from a Lancaster tail, I wonder if it was the one, which was damaged. I have no information on any other Lanc being attacked. Franek PS Check the forum, I think there is my old request about German losses. |
