U/I Marauder Group
 

In the evening of 13 June 44, 229 Sqn escorted 34 Marauders of an unidentified group bombing NE of Caen. Specific time of bombing not known but 229 was up 20.15 and down 22.15.

What group?

Mission was to bomb a target at Etavaux France (which is SW of Caen, so..... maybe not correct mission?). The plane was 30 seconds before "bombs away" when it was hit. Plane went down at about 21:00 hours.

Thanks for the input guys but unless the 229 Sqn diarist got NE confused for SW, it's probably not a match.

On another note, this is fast becoming a claytons forum; how about the mods provide an update sometime soon?
