Plt Off S M Glasgow 76 Sqn

Has anyone got any career details on this Rear Gunner who was on the sqn 1942? Could be S N Glasgow?

Checked again. Possibly Sydney M Glasgow. Still on the Sqn in November 1942

Re: Plt Off S M Glasgow 76 Sqn

Could only find two(2) S.Glasgow airmen in the Air 78 files.
S.Glasgow - 281649
and
S, Glasgow - 344267

From the 1942 September, Air Force List there is ( as far as I could find) only one
P/O /F/O. J, G, Glasgow - 79892.

From the Squadron ORB's this airman seems to begin as S,N, Glasgow but later becomes S, M, Glasgow, so maybe a typo error made at some time caused the change ?

Flew as TG, in DT556, "A" a few times.

Maybe your man was from the Commonwealth ?

Hello,

Help, or hindrance?

A grab from Paul Tweddle's, Into The Night Sky: RAF Middleton St George: A Bomber Airfield at War (2007), concerning the op to Dusseldorf on 31 July/1 Aug 1942 (BCL3/171).

Quote:

"The late take-off was fortunately smooth and professional and after an hour or so of steady flying Waite had settled down nicely and was concentrating on the job in hand. The American drawl of his rear gunner, Plt Off Sam Glasgow, then broke into his ears informing him of the presence of an unidentified aircraft 1,000 yards astern."

Presume this might be his son?

Sam M Glasgow. 109 Creekside Ln, Spring Mills, PA 16875. 814-422-0359

My interest is that Plt Off Glasgow shot down the first Ju 88C-6 in Aug 42
