Oblt. Weyert, Erprobungsstaffel S.K.G. 210

The unit, possibly formed in spring 1941, is named differently in every book on Me 210/410 but I'd stick with Erprobungsstaffel S.K.G. 210 because this is the name given in NVM for Heinz Forgatsch accident on 1941-09-23.

The first commander of the unit as reported by R. Forsyth in 'Me 210/410 units' (but also by J. Vasco book) was Oblt. Weyert, and it has been said he was killed in early April 1941. I could not find any corresponding Me 210 loss, moreover after consulting 'Career Summaries – Luftwaffe Officers 1935-1945' I only was able to find Gerhard Weyert who was indeed with S.K.G. 210 but survived the war. Any info on this officer as commander of Me 210 evaluation unit?

regards,
Paweł

The unit was founded in July 1940 as EGr.210 (Erprobungsgruppe 210) and renamed I./SKG 210 (I. Group/Schnellkampfgeschwader 210) on April 1, 1941.

Hi JoMe, you are right, however what I did mean is not I. Gruppe S.K.G. 210 but Erprobungsstaffel/S.K.G. 210 formed in Rechlin after initial production (short fuselage) Me 210s became available for testing by Luftwaffe crews.

Gerhard Weyert had gotten the German Cross in Gold. What did he do after WWII?
