Croatian Luftwaffe member

Can anyone point me in the right direction, perhaps as to squadrons, so that I might be able to find out where a Croatian Luftwaffe, or some sort of Luftwaffe auxiliary, pilot might have served during WW II.
He was my wife's grandfather and cannot offer any insight himself due to his execution shortly after the war.
We would like to start a search as to where he may have served.
We know at least, that he was on a train heading into Dresden on the night of the massive bombing. His train stopped short of the city for obvious reasons. He talked of this night with his son, my father-in-law.
Help with a start would be appreciated.
My mother's uncle flew Hurricanes during and after the Battle of Britain, so the airforce connection is very interesting for our family.

Send his name if you wish even in PM and I shall help you. If he was pilot or mechanic in CAF Legion in WW II there is gret chance that I got him on unit photograps. As Luftwaffe auxillary, he may be at Croatian Flak legion...
