Information concerning the loss of Schutze Matthies Gans - Me 110 bordfunker - killed January 1942?

Hi,

Please could anyone provide additional information on the loss of Matthias Gans?

He was a bordfunker in a Zerstorer squadron who had earned the EK II and Golden Flight badge.

He was killed in an air battle over the East at the age of 21.

the date of 27.01.42 is given at the bottom of the sterbebild but I think this is related to a memorial at home?

A Gefr. Mathias Gans (Bordfunker) went missing over the North Atlantic as early as 17 July 1941 in a Bf-110D-3 of 1.(Z)/JG 77 (LN+AR). Engine trouble.
Had taken off from Kirkenes. Pilot was Ltn. Felix Brandis.
