In Die Jagdfliegerverbände 12-1 Einsatz im Osten 4Feb-31Dec43 by J.Prien, P.Rodeike, W.Bock s.71 there is a list of pilots of II./JG3 as of 22.5.43 without reference to the source. Where did this info come from, and does something similar occur in other volumes?

I have this book. There is no such list.

By the order of 6.Dec.39, the units were to report, among other things, the following:
Soll- und Iststärken sind einschliesslich fliegenden Personals nur noch zu dem vom RLM festgesetzten Termin einzureichen. Dieser Meldung ist gleichzeitig eine namentliche Liste der Flugzeugführer - einschliesslich Offiziere - mit Vor- und Familiennamen und Dienststelle beizufügen, aus der die Flugzeugführer- und Blindflugscheine ersichtlich sind.

I was hoping it was from the reports like mentioned above. I wonder if such reports were written right up to the end of the war? And nothing survived the war?
