Turin Raid 12-13 July 1943

At 0700hrs on 13 July 1943, Lancaster EE183 of 100 Sqn flown by Flt Sgt Tony Sadler crash-landed at Brest-Guipavas after being badly damaged by Fw 190s of 1./128 and 8./JG 2. Have photos emerged of this crash-landed Lancaster? Also, 14 Lancasters were lost during this raid, two of them coming down in Switzerland and also saw the death of Wg Cdr John Nettleton VC of 44 Sqn. Has this raid even been researched?

A bit more on the raid here Chris,

It would appear most of the losses on the raid occurred on the home flight when the returning bombers were caught in daylight by fighters off Brittany and the channel.

Thanks both so as I thought bits and pieces (Andrew Arthy and myself did correspond on 1./128 some years ago likewise Nick Beale and myself) but nothing major. The Germans did claim "Halifax (?) oder Lancaster" and their claims match the losses

Thanks Col. As you say bit of a mish mash/brain dump with some errors (Wurm was killed 16 Sep 43). Like to know what a nachtjagger is though!
