Hi Oleg

There is a Rolf v Pebal who on the 18.08.1940 flew as a war photograher with 9/KG 76 on the Kenley raid .

The Luft.Officers Careers site has Rolf v Pebal recruited at Wien , promoted from Fw. to Ltn. on 1.08.1942

While the Grabesuche site shows Ltn Rolf v Pebal born at Wien on 12.04.1922 and lost 9.08.1942 believed buried Pjatigorsk southern Russia .

I could not find his loss on GQM in the three months after his death , none of the mentions I have seen of him include the middle name Gerhard .

Perhaps putting his name on the main site of TOCH might get a better result

There is one entry at Fold3.com but I do not have access right now. If you join and go for free trial, you can check if his card is a match.

Hi,
The card from Kartei der Verlust- und Grabmeldungen gefallener deutscher Soldaten 1939-1945 (-1948), Bundesarchiv B 563-2 mentions that he was born on 12/04/1922 in Vienna and that he was a Kriegsberichter. Copy can be supplied if you contact me via pm.

Best regards

Luc

I have a photo of the von Pebal who was with KG 76 in August 1940 and he certainly doesn't look aged 18. I think we are talking about father Hans von Pebal and son Rolf von Pebal

Matti says there is no NVM for him , but information on a death card from ancestry.com states he was fatally shot in the chest on the ground near Pjatigorsk ( A/F ) circumstances not shown no aircraft involved .
