As one of the "researchers..." who "...discovered documents": It took several years and literally thousands of hours of research to identify the missing airmen, locating the initial burial location and to convince the Defense POW/MIA Accouting Agency about this completely weird case...

The murderers were not SS-troops, but the slave labourers (!) of an SS construction brigade.

Keep fingers crossed that DPAA is able to identify the last missing airman of this crew...

I'm sure the slave laborers were told or "Suggested" to kill the airmen. And the SS watched as all this happened. Man's brutality against itself is still evident today.

No, the SS-Guards were not involved in this case - nor were the slave laborers forced to do this.

One of the difficulties of being a researcher is making sure that facts are supported by documents or eyewitness accounts. It is very important, going forward, that qualifiers be added when certain details cannot be confirmed by documents or contemporary accounts. Phrases like "believed to have" or "it is suspected that" are required going forward. History should never be confused with guesswork.
