II./Jagdgeschwader 3 - June 20, 1944
 

Hello/Bonjour,

I am looking for information about II./Jagdgeschwader 3 and its activity on June 20, 1944 (in Jochen Prien's books about this Gruppe?). The 371st Fighter Group claims ME-109s shot down that day around Evreux, and I am trying to find out whether the Gruppe fought Thunderbolts in that area - its losses were not far from there (around Bernay according to Jean-Bernard Frappe's book). To get an idea, because I know that matching wins and losses is always complicated!

II./JG 3's combats appear to have taken place Caen/Bernay with just one claim no location for a P-51 at 1853hrs

Hello Chris,

Thanks for these details about II./JG 3. The fight, the 371st FG claims (405th FS) are given for 14h55 "area - Evreux airfield". The Jean-Bernard Frappe's book "La Luftwaffe face au debarquement..." does not indicate the times, I relied on the location.
