Crew, Douglas A-20 - 410th BG
Hello,
Following a request from someone who had purchased a photo of a four-man crew in front of a Douglas A20, from a Militaria store in Normandy, purchased last year for the June 6th anniversary. I managed to find the original photo on the Fold3 website. This photo is of much better quality, and I was able to read the name Jones on the third man's nameplate. We can see the name Jones; it could be Lt. Colonel Gordon Jones. 410th Bomb Group - Bombardier/Navigator with the 644th Squadron. Gordon Jones was awarded the Silver Star for his actions on the Blankenheim Mission. https://www.absa3945.com/Recto%20e%CC%81quipage%20HAVOC The second man's nameplate says "Major" and "JACK." Could he be Major Jack Tyler? Both men are from the 410th Bomber Group, as indicated on the back of the photo. Both officers are from the 644th BS. (A crew of the 410th Bomb Group poses beside a Douglas A-20 at a 9th Air Force base in England. August 31, 1944.) I am trying to formally identify these four men. |
