Mission April 30, 1943 at Cape Bon
Colleagues. Your help is needed.
According to a German report, "Raumbot PA-10 (ex-MTB-314) left La Goulette at 14:00 on April 30, 1943 to assist the Italian destroyer Pancaldo, which had been damaged by American aircraft near Cape Bon. Sailing independently 100 m from the coast of the Gulf of Tunis at 25 knots, it was attacked by 30-35 Spitfires at 15:56 and sunk by a direct bomb hit." I would like to find out which Allied fighter group sank such a difficult target. The problem is that 1) Spitfires were often confused with P-40s during identification and 2) Spitfires were flown by two American fighter groups. |

Hi sergey,
you mean RA 10 not PA 10. https://www.historisches-marinearchi...ere_value=3087 https://www.forum-marinearchiv.de/sm...html#msg428479 In Admiralty War Diaries there are both - Britsh and US - operations mentioned. Regards Darius |

Hi Darius.
Of course, we are talking about the RA 10! I have seen the information in the links. They, like the Admiralty Diaries, do not provide information about which Fighter Group destroyed the fast target in the Gulf of Tunis at the specified time. sergey |

Presumably, these were P-40s of the 57th FG of the US Air Force, but I would like documentary confirmation.
