Marvin Everett Barnett USN

Marvin Everett Barnett was a seaplane pilot in USS Honolulu (Seagulls in VGS-9?) and flew in PBYs in the Solomon Islands. Can anyone tell me which squadron he was with? He was briefly attached to the Black Cats in the Solomons as an observer in January 1943.

best regards

Keith

Newspaper story about Barnett and the attack on Munda.

The attack on Munda is described in the first 17 pages of this report:

Dennis Crowley, who was one of the planners of the mission, was an aviation officer on the staff of Rear Admiral Ainsworth. Barnett and Duncan (the observers) may have temporarily assigned to the mission. The Black Cat planes used may? have been from VP-12.
