JG 77 - Ofw Heinrich Hackler - claim on 11 April 1943
I am researching the claim that Ofw Heinrich Hackler, 8./JG 77 makes on 11 April 1943. I am uning Tony Woods claims lists.
http://don-caldwell.we.bs/jg26/claims/tonywood.htm http://don-caldwell.we.bs/jg26/claim...2_1943_pdf.zip I have a few questions: 1) How do I interpret "97/27/1: 100 m."? I know it is given as West of Tebourba. I presume that "97" refers to this area in the German maps, and "27/1" could be a reference I do not under stand to their Jägergradnetz. I reckon that "100 m" indicate the height. 2) For 11 April 1943 Woods indicate two claims from JG 77 from other sources. I believe this is Prien's JG 77 book. Am I right, and does anyone have more on these. Kind regards Mikkel |

It's PQ 97271/03 Ost (area of Medjez-el-Bab)
Only one spit claim (28.) 11.38 (232°Sqd) in the old Geschichte des Jagdgeschwaders 77 teil3 (Prien) and JFV vol.11 (Prien) and Mathews/Foreman vol.2 michel |

As far as I can gather 03 OST / 97271 would be somewhere around

Re: JG 77 - Ofw Heinrich Hackler - claim on 11 April 1943
Hello Mikkel,
the JG 77 chronicle Vol. 3 and the JFV Vol. 11/II say that parts of the III./JG 77 flew an escort mission for Ju 87s in the area Medjez-el-Bab where they encountered a formation of Spitfires. Apart from the victory of Ofw Hackler (8./JG 77) was the loss of Ofw Wilhelm Baumgartner (7./JG 77) who was shot down by a Spitfire 2 km south of Sedjoum. He flew the Bf 109 G-2 trop WNr. 13996, white 10. Regards Leo |
