He 177 Werk-Nr. range 3726xx

Does any information on this obscure Werk-Nr. range exist? Seems that at least some a/c from this range had distinctive MG 131 Zwillingsheckstand and according to Nick Beale (ghostbombers.com) and Manfred Griehl at least two were issued to Wekusta 2 (372629, 372628), and should be He 177 A-3 Rüstzustand C.

There are also known photographs from III./K.G. 1 with MG 131 Heckstand machines with abbreviated 26xx Werk-Nr. that could well be 3726xx range. By the way there are some stunning photos of one of them, 'Brunhilde', that some kind soul uploaded to commons.wikimedia.org.

Lastly, photograph of wrecked 372612 (?) at Brandis was posted few years ago on facebook.

Edit – RL 3/8327/0577 with mention of Werk-Nr. 372662

Pawel

On 1944-02-25 He 177 of 1./100 crashed at Eger, according to Balke and also Forsyth W.Nr. was 2655 that would point to another case of 3726xx range number. Classic Publications however has (33)2555 for the loss. Any clues?

Hello, Pawel.
Regarding He177, WNr. 372612 mentioned above, I published a color photo of it in AIRFOIL #1 many decades ago. I am anxious to find any further information that any member can offer.
Respectfully,

Hi Steve, I was not aware of this. The photograph I was writing about is a still from a movie – https://www.pond5.com/fr/stock-foota...acebook.com%2F

Hi Pawel,
Yes, that movie was my source in the early '80s. The late Richard P. Lutz, Jr. found this movie in the Federal archives, and we copied stills from it, I published many of them in AIRFOIL #1, "Last of the Luftwaffe."
Respectfully,
Steve Sheflin
