17 Squadron incident April 15th 1940
Hi,
Trying to establish the serial / pilot of a Hurricane of 17 Squadron that collided with a Wellington of 149 Squadron while on a fighter affiliation exercise damaging both aircraft. Any pointers welcome. Steve |
Re: 17 Squadron incident April 15th 1940
Hi Steve. Is the date correct? They were on this excercise from 1415-1430 on the 14th (9 Hurricanes all "N" series") according to ORB. Practice flights on 15th.
Regards Nick |

Nick,
Yes sorry, April 16th. Three Hurricanes on a fighter affiliation with No.149 between Stradishall and Debden at around 15:15 hours. Steve |
Re: 17 Squadron incident April 15th 1940
Steve. The Hurricanes were in 2 sections.
N2525 S/L Tomlinson 1430-1540 N2526 P/O Harris 1430-1540 N2397 Sgt. Pavey 1430-1525 N2456 F/O Jefferies 1440-1525 N2528 F/O Halton-Harrop 1440-1530 N2457 F/O Slee 1440-1520 The Wellington was P.9247 f/l Stradishall as you know. You may already have the other serials ? The "Hurricane serial index" doesn't mention a collision involving any though. Sorry Nick |
