28 August 1940
28 August 1940 small village of Laxton, Nottinghamshire bombed at approx 22:25. 6xHE, 2xFlammenbombe and numerous Brandbombe dropped in a fairly concentrated area of the main street. It was suspected the aircraft had followed the lights of an ambulance travelling from an ARP meeting in Southwell to Laxton. Ruth Willis was killed after a HE landed next to her ambulance in her garden and a couple of others injured. Can anyone expand on this, I understand it was a busy day and night for attacks.

Re: 28 August 1940
Hi,
nothing fits. The closest target, Sheffield, had been attacked by I./KG53 between 00.15-01.30 hrs (German time). Sheffield had been attacked also by II./KG53 at 23.45 hrs (German time). As you can see no perfect match I`m afraid. Robert |
