Me 262 claim of English Catalina/Canso on 31 March 1945?

I am sorry but this is the sharpest I can make of this digitalized copy of p. 0009 found in RL 2-III/389. My reading of it is that a claim was made through 2. Jagddivision for an English flying boat off the Isle of Juist involving three Me 262s of I./JG 7. One certain shootdown was made of a Consolidated flying boat [Catalina or Canso] on 31 March 1945. According to Michael Balss, Deutsche Luftwaffe Losses & Claims, Part 42, 1-31 March 1945, p. 261, Ltn. Hadi Weihs of I./JG 7 claimed a "Catalina" on 31 March 1945 but it was the only claim denied that day. Was there any loss/damage/encounter of a British Catalina/Canso on 31 March 1945? Thank you, Jim |

Hi Jim,
I wrote an article about this encounter and its aftermath, which was published in Aeroplane (https://www.key.aero/article/final-m...lina-miss-pick) and Klassiker der Luftfahrt, in case you can find a copy. Quite an interesting story. Cheers, Andrew A. Air War Publications - www.airwarpublications.com/earticles |
