USAF plane shot down November 5, 1944
1944, November 5, central Italy near Bologna: the P-47 Republic Thunderbolt single-seater fighter-bomber, known as “Jug”, of Lieutenant Clifford Karrels, a US aviator, was hit by a German anti-aircraft shell that punctured the engine’s oil tank, forcing the US soldier to parachute into the countryside of Anzola.
Does anyone have any further information on the event and exact location of the crash? Thanks, Toni |
