Henschel Hs 126 top pilot Herward Braunegg ?

Good evening Gentlemen,

does anybody know how many of Herward Braunegg's 353 missions were flown in the Henschel Hs 126 ?

Cheers,

Michael

Hi Michael

Coincidently I came across this name a couple of days ago. Can't answer your question, but I can tell you that as an Oberleutnant he makes a claim with Stab./NaG 9:-

2nd August 1944 Pe-2 at 0834 hrs and 1500 metres altitude.

Kind Regards

Johannes

Are you sure about the year? Kommando Braunegg was in Lechfeld by 7 June 1944, preparing for reconnaissance operations with the Me 262.

Hi Guys

Sorry my mistake it was 2nd August 1943, and he listed listed as Oblt Herward.

I did research a bit deeper as you say kdo.Braunegg which became NaG6 were his subsequent units Ritterkreuz and DKiG his decorations. He must have flown at least 110 missions for his flying clasp in Gold.

Best Regards

Johannes

Hello Johannes,

yes, Herward Braunegg was with Stab/NAGr9 in August 1943.
They might have mistaken the (unusal) given name for a family name.
Herward Braunegg has more recon missions (353) than any other German WW2 pilot, except August Györy, hasn't he ?

Cheers,

Michael

Two more candidates, both pilots: Wolfgang Schulze 376 missions up to Feb 1945 (205 with Fw 189, 171 with Bf 109).
Rudolf Richter 451 missions, mostly Fw 189.

Regards, Jörg

Good afternoon Jörg,

thanks a lot for the names.
I have an Fw 189 thread, too:
